Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic merit, economic need and goals in life.
Transcripts of high school grades for the past two marking periods must be submitted with the application, along with three or more letters of endorsement or recommendation.
The Scholarship Committee composed of five F.O.P. members, elected by the executive board, will meet prior to the May board meeting for the final selection for that years candidates.
Applications must be post marked no later than March 31st of the year of the application and must be mailed to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #12, 51 Rector Street, Newark, NJ 07102.
Applications will be opened by a designated office staff member and assigned a control number. All personal information on the application will be blacked out prior to the committee receiving it.
The scholarship recipient must pledge that it is his/her intention to complete college and maintain or exceed a B average. The recipients must also pledge to send copies of their grades to the Scholarship Committee at least once during the scholarship year.
All applicants must use only the official Scholarship Application Form. No other application will be accepted.
